These recent rains should help bring the water level up?
We had about .14 inches last night in Albuquerque, most of the meaningful part of the cell was east of us. We get so little rain, average 9 inches a year, that local rain doesn't do a lot except flash floods. It's springtime and a lot of the water is released for spring irrigation. Water in the rivers in NM is tightly controlled as you might imagine.
I guess what 'm saying is the level of the lakes has more to do with time of year and snow fall in Colorado than local rain.
But let's hope for the best. Other than the Rio Grande and Elephant Butt Lake the rivers and lakes never dry up.
Any Rain is Good Ran! almost!
that applies to us as well "all the rain is East of us"
Looks like we got about 3/4" from the storm that hit the other day. DH checked it today when we got home from Grand Canyon, so there may have been a bit of evaporation.
I just make a reservation for an extra day at Bluewater Lake. I'll arrive Wed., and probably drive back to ABQ Friday to pick DH up after work. If there is enough room at the campsite for an extra vehicle, he might drive, but it'll be nicer not to have to drive both vehicles back to ABQ on Sunday (nor to pay the extra vehicle fee).
Is it too late to get in on this now?
There are a few sites left on the reservation service, but it looked like (back on page 6 or so of this thread) that many of the sites are FCFS.
Certainly Not too late!
It looks like there are plenty of boondocking areas where Bearman512 is going to be!
Bearman512, my DS (23) will be doing this road trip w me (DW is deploying a project and can't take off) and would like to do some fishin and wanted to see if you would show him where is best on the lake?
We are 31 days away to meeting up at Bluewater Lake SP NM!
Few items on the checklist to follow up on are:
If everyone could PM me w a count of who is coming and Shirt sizes.
Pot luck selections
And send me any questions you might have.
I am looking forward to finally camping and side trips in NM after all the times have only passed through!
SIte 17 was still available, so I just reserved that one. If the P'up/TV combo is a bit too long, I may have to move the TV somewhere else to park, but I figured if Choco could fit his Saratoga into site 18, I can fit the Nevada into site 17.
I'll check the driving directions and estimated drive time, and plan my departure time and PTO at work accordingly. I much prefer trying to arrive during the daylight to set-up.
That gives me a month to do some stuff to the P'up and TV. Figured out a couple of things that need done after this past weekend's trip.
No problem he can fish with us.
You can get him a fishing license at the little grocery/bait store just before the park entrance.
Just got off the phone with the park administrator and found out that the little shop is a log cabin on the main road. The shop name is Yatahey but they do not have fishing licenses. I will recommend you stop in Gallop at Wally World and get a license there.
Saratoga is no more!!
Busted the frame on it, but that is a whole other story!
Does this help?
you also need to refer to this map since the CS are numbered different than the reservation site map.
Dick brought this to my attention.
I don't know our TV's might be touchin noses!
This makes me wonder if I'm actually in space 17, or the space that corresponds to 17 on the Reservation system map?
I'll deal with it either way, but it does make me curious. You would think the reservation system would reflect the layout and numbering of the campground accurately.
We have found a couple of campgrounds where the actual site numbers did not agree with the reservation service. We assumed that the reservation service had been givenincorrect into, it was entered incorrectly or the CG was re-numbered.
You are probably in #17 and we are probably goin to have TV touchin noses it is the reservation system that has the locations wrong. I spoke w the park ranger about it and he said the park map is correct. Now whether campsitephotos has it correct "TheBerrys" will need to answer that one.
Either way there is plenty of space to park:
then click on Earth view.
We have been to many NM State parks and the pictures have agreed with the site we got. I can't say I've studied it, but I haven't been mislead yet. Of course other than trees, they all look pretty much the same.
