I have a custom bumper on my hitch that was welded to hold the generator so i know its strong. (its mounted to the frame of the PUP), I want to put a hitch there to carry the bikes. The only problem i have is that the lift system is right in the middle of the bumper, and i think the hitch would have to be mounted off center, and carry the bikes off center. has anyone ever done this? is that a bad idea?

I have not but Im thinking on welding a hitch receiver to the rear bumper of my pup to put one of those cargo platforms on for a couple bikes. So Id like to see if anyone gives feedback.

I would take a serious look at the frame of your PUP before attempting this........if you'il run a search, you'll find several tales of people leaving their bumpers, hitch & bikes in the road behind them. I'm not saying it cannot be done, but most PuP frames are lightly built, & don't stand up well to the extra stress of a load bounding around back there...YMMV
