We are in the process of replacing/repairing the floor in our rockwood pup. we kinda just wanted to ( patch) it for this year...and then redo the whole floor this winter. question is the foam that is used under the thin flooring....is that used for insulation, or does it serve as a structural method? reason I ask...is because we cant find 1 inch foam...we found 2 inch and 1.5 inch. so if its just for insulation....can we just not put that in for now...and wait til winter when we redo everything?

Thanks for any and all comments

Did anyone ever respond to you? We have a 2007 HW 2007 and have a soft spot at our entrance door. We're trying to figure out how to repair it. Would prefer to just cut out the bad section and replace the vinyl. We didn't even know there was foam under the floor. Thanks.

What ever you do the first thing is to find the floor supports (crossmember), you would want to have your patch supported by them. As for the foam it doesn't have to be as thick and you could use a thicker top layer. You also can cover the bad area with interlocking plank flooring. It would be strong and look like a little entrance way area.
