Back to basics this time around:
Lol! My phones got a mind of its own...
Some of our pics
Our first non-driveway camping trip in our NTU pop-up.
Campground looking south.
Other campers clamming in the on-site tidal flat to the east (our site's 'back yard').
A large bird flew close, maybe 30 feet, overhead, a bald eagle. It was on the hunt for a black winged gull (juvenile herring gull?). I got the phone out and snapped a few of the fight-or-flight struggle. After a few minutes the eagle broke off and the gull flew off in another direction.
The eagle is the dark spot in the sky, the gull is just to the right.
here's a 2x view of a cropped image.
This was about the greatest separation between them, I really thought the gull would be caught. The arial combat was climbing higher and higher and that was to the smaller, lighter gulls advantage as the larger and heavier raptor couldn't climb or turn as quickly. Had the eagle started from a height advantage instead of the tree-top height I think there'd have been a very different outcome.
