    Glacier National Park

Going there at the end of August through Labor Day. Staying at Fish Creek Campground inside the park and have all of my vehicle reservations as well! Looking forward to the trip as we got evacuated the last time due to a fire.

Yellowstone to Bozeman and Back in One Day?

Very doable although it will be a long day. Either route 191 or 89 will be fine but going out the North entrance could be slower. I would prefer the drive along 89 as the scenery is beautiful in Paradise Valley (Livingston to Gardiner) and follows the Yellowstone River. Perhaps get up early...

My 1st outing with my PUP

We love that area but haven't been out in April (usually July-August and it's darn hot that time of year).

North Rim Grand Canyon to remain closed until June 2

Was there a few days after they opened last year and the bathrooms/showers were in a state of disrepair. Maybe they will be better this year...

March 2023 - What did you do for your camper?

It's been snowing frequently enough here to really do anything other than make reservations and plan my upgrade to the current solar setup. Currently 100 watts on the roof and a 200 watt suitcase. Going to upgrade both controllers from PWM to MPPT and probably replace the 2-50 watt panels on...

    Am I missing something?

I was fortunate enough to book Fish Creek in Glacier National Park this past Sunday by logging into my recreation.gov account before 8:00AM (MST) and selecting my dates and desired campsite. It initially stated "not released" but I was able to add them to my account right at 8:00AM. It is...

What State? When is your first 2023 trip? What will be the predicted weather?

Black Hills of South Dakota the week before Memorial Day. Staying at Custer State Park the first part of the trip and then Keyhole State Park in Wyoming at the end of the trip. High temperatures average in the low 60's with overnight lows in the 40's. Visited there a few years back on the...

Another Yellowstone Camping Question and also GTN, Glacier, Banff and Jasper

You will be fine using Grant as a base. We stayed there last year for 9 days and loved it. There is a small grocery store and gas station at Grant that you can buy some basic groceries and supplies if you need to. And yes, the showers are wonderful! Probably 50 miles from Grant to the north...

Suggestions on light weight couples travel trailers?

I sold my PUP and got one of these: https://forestriverinc.com/rvs/travel-trailers/wolf-pup/16FQ/6641 Love the walk around bed and easy setup compared to the PUP.

    Boulder, Colorado area campground suggestions?

Kelly Dahl and Golden Gate Canyon State Park are a couple that are near Boulder. Both can accommodate popups or travel trailers. We love Golden Gate but you need to make reservations as far in advance as possible but you may be OK in September. Both are less than an hour from Boulder...

A Yellowstone Question and an unextended PUP bunk

You will almost certainly be fine. We were there this past summer and almost all of the sites were more than long enough for a popup and your tow vehicle. You will get assigned a spot when you check in but ask about a site with more favorable views or distance to a bathroom. We had our choice...

    Get them While You Can

I saw a notice about their gas lawnmowers but nothing about generators yet. Got a link? Glad I got my Honda last year!

    Solar issues

That's good news. Running off of the 12 volt battery will not power the outlets. Be aware that the fridge running on 12 volts is not as efficient as on propane. Do you have a vent with fan in the trailer? That should work on 12 volts. Being a 1998 trailer you probably don't have USB ports...

    Solar issues

Got it. Not a terribly efficient setup. Make sure the fridge is set to something other than AC volts then. A 105 ah battery may only last a few hours depending on what you are using with the inverter inside/outside of the trailer. It would be great if the wiring was still intact and you...

    Solar issues

So you are currently hooking up the inverter to the battery and then plugging the trailer power cord into the inverter to use outlets?

    Solar issues

It's probably a 120 volt outlet instead of 220. Does your trailer have a converter inside? Will look something like this: Without a converter, I can see why you are struggling. If your trailer had a factory battery (which it most likely did) it would be located at the front of the trailer...

    Solar issues

I'd suggest using the trailers 12 volt system to power the inside and outside lights. Convert the bulbs to LED will save some battery power. Are you able to use the inside/outside lights using the trailers 12 volt system? Inverters are not terribly efficient (probably 85%) and are going to...

    Solar issues

The bouncing is from the charging going on with the solar controller. Use the chart to see that the battery is fully discharged at 10.5 volts and that is damaging to the battery. Solar is trying to charge but the battery is probably fully discharged (or nearly so) at night. Can you charge...
