Im in ned at 10 or 11 everynight bud. Its called getting old!
I was/ am a little embarrassed... found myself “retiring” at 9:30 last weekend lol! I guess it doesn’t help that it’s dark at 6:00, Lexie is whining to go in at 8:00 and I’ve likely had plenty of barley pop.... [:)C]

I'm in a few Facebook RV groups. Occasionally someone will ask about adding an exterior TV & speakers to their rig. The couple of times that I've commented that I don't want to be camping where one of these is being used, I've been bombarded with hate replys.
I think a big focus for those are tailgaters. Sports games, Jimmy Buffett concerts, Nascar, etc. For many camping is a side benefit of the RV or trailer, and they take the mindset of tailgating with them to the campground.

Brother-In-Law (use to buy season tickets for college football) says he knows of big camper rig guys that drive over 100 miles to the stadium the day before the game and set up, "tailgate" all day, and watch the game on the camper big screen. The next day they drive over 100 miles back home. Makes no sense to me.

I don't mind them either....Has anyone else noticed how early people go to bed anymore?
My fav campground i have been going to since i was a kid....Almost everyone is in bed by 10PM.
Growing up...The whole campground had fires going and people sitting around them till well past midnight.
Most the time we were off fishing till 2 or 3 am.

It used to be on the weekends everyone would party hard on Friday night. Then they would spend the next day in the sun swimming, skiing, fishing, etc. and be worn out on Saturday evening. The last couple years that doesn't seem to be happening as much.

And all 10 are obsessed with leaving every exterior light on from dusk to dawn. This sucks. So much for inebriated star gazing. Covidiots I presume. This place looks like the aliens have landed.
You guys would hate the my LW I have to wear those movie star blinders to sleep at night. She is deathly afraid of the dark. and sleeps with 2 night lights on in our room. In the beginning I thought she just want to see my beautiful face but that was wrong. When she lets Ole nasty out for her last head call at night she turns all the lights on in the back yard. I told her Nasty likes privacy when she goes out. She said that Nasty was afraid of the dark too. Lord please help me. This same woman warms the dogs scraps in the microwave. What can I say? She will go camping anytime and don't complain about anything.

Love how everyone thinks every new camper is due to covid. Between the stimulus check and my old job giving a decent severance check we could finally afford a camper this summer since weve been trying forever and did not want another payment. let people enjoy and go talk to them, ive done that countless times because i love music but at same time i dont want to hear yours especially if youre blasting rap and i can hear it because i dont want my kids hearing that junk. yes some may be due to it but let them enjoy as well and once again say something because we were clueless on some things and people have helped us and been polite and we correct ourselves.

A bad day camping beats a good day at the office

Haha you did make me chuckle... "Hey not every new camper is because of COVID, I just started because I got a COVID stimulus check" lol. Just being silly no offense intended.

This group actually loves new campers and we help them out all the time. Doesn't mean we don't also whine about some that we come along during our camping adventures... the ones who don't follow camping etiquette at all (and probably know perfectly well that they aren't but don't care). But unless you start a thread called "I bought an open-frame construction generator and intend to run it all night" we'll probably treat you nice here ;)

Do have fun with the new camper. I am suffering from withdrawal even though it's only been 3 weeks since we camped :( Only 6 more months to go :( :(

I wanted to revisit this thread. Covid campers has definitely been a subject over the past months. We temp camped for 40 years, off an on, but got our first pop up pre-pandemic, but bought a new one in what hopefully history will record as the post pandemic period. I do remember seeing our first covid campers in either April or May of 2020. We booked ahead and there was a group of people at a nearby site with a big tent, lots of chairs, and various equipment with some still having price tags and other signs of being brand new. It was an unusually cold weekend, but we have tent camped in colder. It got down to about 24 that night, came out to that site having all the equipment there, but everyone left over night! They came back Sunday afternoon. Soon after that we started noticing reservations getting harder to get and campgrounds struggling to adapt policiies.

Here in Ohio, we came home from the office in March of 2020 and that is when the great shutdown occurred and we didn't know campgrounds were going to even be allowed to open until early May. (From my want to forget this time ,memory) We bought our first pop up online via Facebook marketplace and it was a good experience. Anytime something gets popular there are people out there figuring out a way to scam people, especially when the internet is involved. I've seen a lot of fraudulent ads out there the past few years, but it is still possible to find legit offerings.

We had an unreliable camper for much of 2021 and 2022, and camped less than we wanted, but bought new in 2022. We did see a lot of new campers out there, but most were trying to fit in and have fun. In any group there are a small amount of people that can't get it right. I didn't see that much personally, but again the internet brings out the flakes! Having been online before most internet users were born. (Worked at CompuServe and was on the internet early) I've gotten pretty good at spotting the BS, and besides the fraudulent ads, I've seen a lot of covid campers leaving bad reviews of campsites. Now Bad reviews can save you from ending up at a nasty place, but you can sure spot when the covid camper/internet warriors get miffed. You can see campgrounds with good reviews over a long history suddenly have a bunch of bad ones on Yelp, or Google during the pandemic. Of course some of them are legit, but you can spot trends like brand new account created just to do a nasty review and exact wording repeated over and over again. "The owner made my child cry"

I am noticing more new campers from the past 2 years going back on the market, but is it more than normal? I have only made 2 reservations for this season on hon-holiday weekends, so I'm not sure if the demand for sites is going down or not. Now I have seen many new campers being very nice, asking for help/ getting help. We went through the new camper thing this year, plus I remember the nice people showing us theirs while we were still figuring out what we wanted.

It seems like a lot of dealers are sitting on inventory, but no one wants to really lower prices. I think this year may be the inflection point in the market. After another summer of "honey, we barely used this camper and we're paying to maintain and store it", we will see more popping up on the used market.

Similarly, dealers may start to get desperate after the typical spring/summer buying season. We may see big price drops in the fall and towards the end of the year.

I'm terrible at predictions, but I think you are right.

My hunch is most of the COVID camper purchases were impulse with low down payments and long finance period. The owners are upside down by thousands of dollars. Tough to sell at that point.

Still others are enjoying their purchases and will stay. We all entered this lifestyle/hobby at some point and stayed.

I will brag a little. I bought Thor 2020 mid year when folks thought COVID would destroy the RV industry. I sold a year and a half later. Best stock purchase of my life.

I also bought Drive Shack so I'm an idiot also lol.

Dude here has a small lot w/ maybe 25-35 campers on average, seems to do well selling mainly NuCamp truck campers/TABS, Aliners, a few Sunsets & a smattering of larger campers; couple of years ago, when I sold our Aliner Ranger 10 (2019) to him, he had ONE camper on his lot...now that same camper new is listed for almost $6K more, & will probably sell soon...
