I would buy the assembly, but use the same drums. After you add up the money for the parts, it will not cost a lot more.

I had that thought. Whats more, after I posted I looked up the price of Dexter hubs. $166 apiece! I will also have to wire in a 7 pin connector to the trailer, but thats not too much. For some reason this sled had brakes, no brakes and a 4 pin flat connector.

Sagging bed fixed...for a time anyway.

Moved on to replacing canvas retainer around the doorframe. That sucked! For some reason I imagined the new plastic strip would have the rivet holes pre drilled. Negative. It was a pain to properly align it and drill new holes.

Does your canvas have a bit of cordage that wraps from one side of the bed, under the slide-out, over to the other side to attach over there? The little "gun scabbard" bits might be for that. A piece of stretchy cordage will help keep the canvas pulled down and under the slide-out to keep it from blowing upwards and allowing moisture in on the bed.

Yeah it has the usual bungee cord setup, although at this point it is parachute cord having been changed out by the PO. I asked on facebook and the consensus id those flaps fold up under the bed slides to "keep insects out". The manual confirms this.

Can someone lay out the part numbers for a complete bearing and seal replacement? 2000 lb(i think) axle. Dexter 8-257 hubs. Its about clear as mud which bearings I need as the inner and outer are different I believe.
Outer bearing?
Seal?
Unsure which other bearing to buy, or are the inner and outer the same one?

The part numbers you have are correct. The outer and inner bearings appear to be the same as well. Good luck

Got my hand painted Coleman emblem installed over the old outside 110 outlet. It was here some poor planning came back to bite me. Both the emblem on the right side of the door, and the dual 12v/usb charger on the left were installed too close to the door. So when its closed, the door edge is going to partly cover up both. I did some quick measurements and I don't think it's going to cause any problems other than obscuring the emblem a little. The door should still close properly.

Good idea on the outside dc outlet. I need to do that. And watch that alien, hes getting too excited. Dont want to bring him across state lines and introduce him to another eccosystem.

Moving ever closer to launch. Got the stepper door reinstalled, although I caulked the edges and did a lousy job of it. Oh well, if it bothers me too much I can peel it off and do it over. New brakes installed and tested for voltage. Ran new wire to them from the frame. Old wire was well, old. Torn and Frayed as the Stones might say. Put new Timken bearings in the hubs. The old were Chinese bearings and a couple were a little sloppy. I repacked them and put them in a ziplock for spares along with the new races. Old races looked fine. Now just waiting on grease seals to finish that job up. I had a hell of a time finding the right seals, but I think I have the right ones on the way.

Installed breakaway switch on the tongue, and ordered new safety chains and scissor-style stabilizers. The old Atwood ones are junk. Put my Primus IQ brake controller in my truck in a somewhat suspect install, but it works for now. Added a new 7 pin cord to the trailer. Today I continued cleaning the decal residue of the sidewalls with mineral spirits and a plastic razorblade in preparation for painting.

A couple small issues remain. Each taillight assembly has one broken tab where the lenses mount, but I think I can fix that with some small screws. The most concerning thing is that the curbside of the roof is an inch to an inch and a half higher than the roadside. Have any advise on tightening(or loosening) the lift cables anyone?

The end is in sight!

You can check the manual, I think, there are two ways for ajustment, 1 is maybe at the top of the lift poles, thier may be diffrent positions to conect the screw at that point ( ita in the manual I think) the other would be to ajust the cable in the wiffle tree.

Real progress being made now! Might be able to camp Labor Day instead of New Years!
I love the knotty pine! I'm new to the group and just finding my way around. Did you use tongue and groove? We are updating our 1998 Utah and I want a cabin theme, and this fits perfectly! Thank you for posting such great pictures.
