2015 - Florida Spring Rally

Will anyone plan a Spring Rally in Florida for 2015? I would do it, but we never know when we will be able to go camping. We would really like to attend another Rally if it is at a State/County Park. Just curious since I haven't noticed any mention of one yet.

Ok, so no responses as of yet. So I am going to throw out some ideas of places as to where we would like to possibly visit this year. Most of these should have a water aspect since that is the one thing about camping that my kids enjoy the most. Spring Break for us is March 14th (Sat)- March 22nd (Sun) with March 23rd as a Teacher planning day (so the kids have off). However, March 22nd is my Daughter's 18th B-day, so I don't think she will want to camp that weekend. So if we camp it will most likely be March 13-16

Fort DeSoto (always in my list)
Blue Springs SP
Silver River SP
Falling Waters
Salt Springs Campground Ocala National Forest

These are just some places we would like to try and get to in 2015 and are some suggestions and dates we can maybe attend without the conflict of school. I know not all Counties have the same Spring Break week.

Have looked into it with another member, but all centrally located state parks don't have a lot of available spots left. The only one that we found with availability is Highland Hammocks and we have been there way too many times fir the rally.

I would be intersted in a oct 2015 fall rally. My vote would be blue springs

Just so everyone knows, My post above was just merely suggestions of places we wouldn't mind going that we could probably afford. I know most places are probably booked. I'd be willing to attend a summer Rally too. It was just basically to get people talking and discussing and maybe a place can be found that has enough openings even though it is a long shot.

So, feel free to post with ideas of locale and dates! Even if there is one we can't make it too, at least there will be one!

Come on all you sunburned puppers!! FMB- where are you?!?! Cuckoo did a wonderful job being WM for the FL rallies, but as you know he's now "retired" as a WM.

Somebody step up and get this Spring or Summer Rally going! Kim is gung ho, so I bet she'd be a good Scout and provide lots of help to whomever will step up to the WM position!!

Don't let the rally die!!

How about Tomoka S.P. Most of the first 3 weekends in April are open. Winter is for planning. I think I know where I will be.

Silver Springs SP Camping ,Hiking, kayaking, Fishing, Swimming, Silver River attraction , Old Mill tours, Snorkeling , scuba Diving!!!

Great suggestions! Keep them coming! We can do a poll or something for which park then check dates to see when the most available sites are open. Spring Rally, Summer Rally, doesn't matter to me.

I wouldn't mind being WM, but I am not that great at organizing/planning activities/setups/and so on. Plus possible constraints on arrival/departure dates. It can be difficult to arrive early enough to set things up (Meet & Greet) due to if DH can get days off plus the kid's schooling and travel time to get to location. I can be a stickler when it comes to them missing school!

ok I have checked many sites and dates most are ok after mid April Oscar Scherer SP has 60 spots April 24-26 we camped there last summer had great time

Sue and I are in.....I like to see something like silver springs or something centrally locate to cut the drive for us. Last rally was a 3.5 hr drive and i think we would get more folks to join us. Just my .

I like the idea of Silver Springs SP since it is Centrally located.

So, if a poll was to be done, we have Tomoka SP, Oscar Scherer SP, and Silver Springs SP. That is 3, any other suggestions for a poll for a spring/summer (probably going to be more like late Spring/early Summer) Rally? Maybe one more? I'll give it a couple days, then if I see nothing else posted, I'll see if I can figure out how to do a poll with the 3 parks. i am thinking once we settle on a park, then we can check dates of availability?

We already know Oscar Scherer SP is available for April 24-26 thanks to skipit53! Thank you skipit53 for doing that!

I am up for any of these parks but favor silver springs or tomoka.
But I wanted to pass along this info off of the reserve america website.

Attention: Silver Springs State Park will be undergoing several maintenance upgrades beginning April 13, 2015. Reservations will not be available through Reserve America. Availability for camping will be on a first come, first served basis through the Ranger Station. For more information, please contact the park at 352-236-7148.

this may make it more difficult to determine availability at silver springs.

UGH! Yes it will! Thank you for that info! We may have to take that one out of the running due to that. :/

There is always Salt Springs in the Ocala National Forest instead. I am up for almost any park in the Central Florida area. Tomoka sounds great too, but it may be to much of a drive for a majority of people. we will see once we can get this thread rolling and people talking about it.

I do not know if I can be the WM since I cannot book anything until either 1.) I get my refund from RA, or 2.) taxes come in and we decide if we can afford to get a larger TV or not.

I am just trying to get this rolling a bit and get people excited about the possibility of a Rally earlier than the Fall Rally. If it happens- GREAT! If not, a Fall rally can always be planned!

I'm in. Anything Central for us. It will have to be a quick trip. We could only stay Fri & Sat night.

just stayed at wekiwa. Last weekend in dec. campground is very nice. Some people swimmimg in the springs. And a few canoes out. But i didnt. Also visited blue springs while i was down there. Checked out the manatees. However. Liked weikiwa. Better
