I say that you pick a date since you are getting this thing going. Everyone will fall in line.

Also, be careful with Salt Springs...I know there are only so many spots that are actually reserve-able. The rest are 1st come, 1st served. So, that 57 might not be the actual number. I remember something like that when we had a past Rally there. Nice park..only downside were the showers...you had to keep hitting that darn button to keep the water on!

Hahaha! Ya, I can kind of go crazy spastic when organizing something! Should have seen me for Turkey Day! Cooking and prepping for 17 people! I about drove the DH MAD!

Putting it on the calendar! That weekend is free for us (right now, anyway) so might as well set it aside! If I wait too long something else will come up and try to get in the way

May 25th is Memorial Day. Would make it easy for those that have to travel a few hours. Just a thought

but maybe tougher to book sites... Gotta check that out also... You never know how the attendance may turn out and holiday weekends in SP are pretty much booked. Not that I would know.. JS... Good job Kimmy!

Ya. Site availability is very low for the holiday weekend. Which is why I didn't choose it. I want to give everyone who wants to attend a chance to be able to book a site. From what I have read, Florida rallies can get quite large, so I chose a weekend that has ample availability.

At the 3 top parks in the voting there are less than 30 sites available for the Memorial Day weekend and one has less than 20.

I too am watching the thread to see where the race will end. I do wish i could come down south and join you for this rally. Especially after just visiting your state over christmas. But both time and money wil prevent me I do however. Wish you all a great time and best luck setting a location and date. I am sure you will do a fine job as wagonmaster kimmygr. Looks like your off to a great start!!!!.

Wish you could come down and join in on the fun too vagov! It is always nice when I meet other PA peeps! I am from Pittsburgh and was dragged down here by my Mom & Stepdad back when I was 11.

I have a question, those who have been to Oscar Sherer recently, I was reading in the CG reviews that many sites have poison oak and poison ivy around the sites. Is this still true? The reviews are a few years old, so I am wondering if maybe it has been cleared out?

I don't want to discourage anyone about choosing the park, but a heads up would be nice. Especially for those who might have kiddos. I haven't been around any in years and may have a hard time spotting it and giving fair warning.

hmm.. good question. Although, since Poison Ivy IS a native plant species to Florida.. I don't know if they would clear it out. Maybe trim it back but definitely not eradicate them all together.

I wouldn't think they would eradicate it, just clear it from the sites. If it is unknown, then if the park is chosen I'll make sure to bring lots of calamine (sp?) lotion! Because lord knows my son will find it!

when we were there hiked trails and all around the lake did not see any
