Thanks to all who work to put this event on. We had a few glitches (like a battery that wouldn't hold a charge, propane tank that ran out early Sunday morning, and a dog that at least let us meet EVERYONE in the campground!), but it was fun to make a few new acquaintances, and dinner was great!

Thanks Chris for the great kayaking tour. The rally was great as always, and now we plan for next year. We got home around 4. Loved seeing everyone again. Josh, you did those pants proud.

Another great day for driving. I dropped Sharon off at her place at about 6 pm. We would have been home earlier, except we were laughing--no surprise there--and we took the wrong exit. Stopped for gas on our 'detour' and took advantage of a chip wagon. Yum!

Yes, Sharon's neighbours were watching for her arrival home. I was tempted to drop her at the corner, stop in front of her house, drop her bags at the end of the driveway, and tell her neighbours that I left her on Hwy 12 in NY and that she should be home in a couple of days. When I suggested this to Sharon, she laughed so hard, that I thought she would 'have tears running down her leg'.

I would be remiss if I did not thank Mike, Dave, Chris, and Kevin who would have gladly installed my new battery if Scott, Jimmy, and Josh had not already done so.

I love my American camping family. As Steph would say, "You don't know how many friends you have until you go camping".:D

Thanks to Chris (Mercman) who took us kayaking at Ball Mountain Lake:

Looking north on Ball Mountain Lake. The water release was a week earlier.

Boat launch. Chris told us that when he was here the week before the release, the picnic table was floating.

Hi Everyone -
A great weekend of fun thats for sure! I want to thank everyone for attending our 8th Vermont Rally. The best part to me, is seeing how friendships have developed over the years and the humour around the campfire. Congratulations to this year's Golden Can Opener winner also! I want to see more entries next year so start practicing!
Next years rally will start September 28th and run through September 30. Of course a few will get there early because they can...
See you all soon around the virtual campfire......

Great pics.

Anyone stay in the South Loop? Curious if that that numbskull ex convict back in the woods behind S19/20 living in the old trailers is still running generators 24/7, or hopefully is back in the pokey?

Didn't hear anything, but my hard of hearing neighbor watching TV one night.
Thanks, good to know. I imagine if the guy was still there you would also have seen his lights that lit up the woods like daylight. Last year, the hosts told me he was recently released from prison and was on parole, and that the police were back there often. The place was abandoned and overgrown in 2013, we rooted around back there exploring the woods. They also said he was sneaking over and using the shower houses. I think the generator he was using had no muffler whatsoever, and not a damn thing could be done as he was not on ACOE property. His access was from the other end of the gated road behind the south dump station. I put up with that annoying thing for 3 days, as did the lady beside us, and it was just a matter of time before we would of had a direct confrontation. Then I most likely would have been in a Vermont prison lol.
