Allegany State Park

Hi all, I live in Cleveland and drive by Allegany State Park nightly. I am struck by the beauty of the area and am planning a camping trip there in early Oct.

Never having been there I am hoping for a bit of advice. I wish to reserve a spot but have no idea of what t sites are best for my taste. I generally like wooded sites and would like an electric site (15 amps is plenty)

Anyone familiar with this park I would love to hear from. Totally in the dark as to reserve in the Cain Hollow loop or the Red house loop. Any insight is greatly appreciated

If you drive by everyday why not stop and look around for yourself. Relying on someone else is never my way to pick a campsite.

Can't give you any insight but this State Park has been on my short list for years, hopefully one of these years when we camp in the States we'll finally get there..

If this is allegany state park in New York. It is an absolute beautiful park. Absolutely no cell service and bears are active so be very careful to follow the bear rules the park makes you sign. Unfortunately I can't remember what loop I stayed in, but it was crazy difficult to back in and not many trees, but it had an awesome view. I didn't didn't venture into the other loops so not too sure about those.

Thanks all for the replies. I would stop in and take a look but I go through there around 9:30 at night, and am driving a tractor with a 53' trailer. I do not think that would be appreciated. Good heads up on the bears!

This is one of my favorite parks. I grew up (a long time ago) in Salamanca right next to the park and would go there several times through the summer. We now live in Rochester, NY and try to camp there every year. We have always camped in Red House, but both areas have benefits. Red House is a little closer spacing and can be a little loud for crowd. Red house has more to do and is just beautiful. As stated above, there is no cell contact in the camping area; it is a great place to disconnect.
There are so many hiking trails, "bear caves", bike trails, beach, canoeing, etc.
I don't know the Cain Hollow/Quaker Lake area as well, but I think the sites are more spaced and you are farther from any nearby town. Some of the sites appear to be more challenging to back into with elevation to contend with.
No matter what, I know you will enjoy the park.

Following. Also from Cleveland and have driven by many times but never stayed. Wife and I have it on our bucket list for 2023.
