Canceled trip to smokies 😩

Due to work deadlines and everything else going on I decided to cancel my vacation to Smokemont campground in the Smokey Mountains. From this coming Monday to Saturday if anyone is able to grab it. Site c12 which unfortunately can only fit trailers under 15 feet long.

I'm seriously kicking myself that I had to cancel but already feel less stress on my shoulders as there was no way I could make my deadlines with this trip on the books. It stinks as I was so looking forward to it.

Never tried this particular camp so don't know. I've dry camped in way worse temps though. I selected Smokemont for the proximity to the Cherokee and Bryson city. Never tried Balsam mountain and it looks like a great place. How steep are the roads to get up to the campground? Going to have to be put on my must visit list.

Not all terrible I decided to find a campground fairly close to home for a long weekend trip. So I'm still able to salvage some of my vacation. Wish I can work at camp but sadly our work laptops have a blocker put in place.

Never tried this particular camp so don't know.

It's about 5,000'. Cooler in the summer. Not as much to do locally. I call it a "chill" campground. You go to Maggie Valley for excitement. No showers. There's water and hiking. Better solar than the others. Tenters like it. No electricity. Roads aren't bad steep.

Mile down the road is Mile High CG. Land leased from Cherokees. Privately run. More privacy between Spaces. Water. HOT showers. Used to be 20% higher price. You may wake up with an Elk licking your face. No Electricity. Fair Solar at best. About a mile before you get to balsam.

Pisgah, 40ish miles from Balsam. <5000'. Forest runned. DW camps there because of the restaurant/ Isgah resort across the street. Water and hot shower. No solar on most sights. Had camp mgr charge DW's CPAP battery once. This is bear country, black bear. Strict on cooking ware. They inspect all sites before night fall. Used to be 1/3 of spaces are not reserved. First come first serve.
