Scored what I believe is a 1961 model 220E out of our scrap bin… was pretty excited until I realized my partner “recycled” the globe…. Still figure it’ll be a good little project for me to get cleaned up and hopefully working. I am looking for some advice from you pros like @kcsa75 on where to start… I am guessing a new pump seal and fuel cap to start (along with a new globe and mantels)… any/ all tips will be appreciated!

Look at you! Those are great running lanterns.

CCF is a great bunch of guys but if you spend too much time there you'll get bitten by the bug and next thing you know you're adding a room to store all your lanterns and stoves.

To get started you might find Old Town Coleman a better place to start. Frank used to operate a Coleman Repair Depot and this site has loads of great information in one place.

Near the bottom of the "Learning" page is a How-to link that is very beneficial to a newby. There are also step-by-step instructions -- with pictures for us visual types -- on rebuilding your lantern.

In the mean time, in addition to the cap gasket and pump cup, you will probably want to pick up a new generator, which is the brass tube between the burners which acts like a carburator to mix the air and gas. Some guys clean them up but I've never had much luck doing that. You can pick up a new one for $10 or $12 at Bass Pro, Academy Sports, Walmart etc.

There are mixed opinions about replacing the fuel cap. Some say the three-piece caps are a fire hazard, but I've never had an issue.

After that wipe off the dust, strap on a couple mantles, pump it up, open the valve a quarter to half a turn. Once is starts sputtering light her up.

Thanks! I think I did browse through the old town site (busy at work today lol) and will keep reading when I can. I briefly looked at the forum listed above… it’s enough to make your head spin lol! I honestly haven’t messed with a “real” lantern since I was just a boy!

Thanks for checking in! It’s actually still sitting on my table waiting for me to make the time to play with it. I did get the globe, seals and mantels though.

Word of caution when you clean it up. Do not use wax on the vent! It will make it haze when you fire it up and there is no way to undo it. I think you'll find that getting it running will be simple. 220Es are rock solid work horses. Do the valve and tip cleaner spin freely

Yes they do. It was in working order but had been sitting in a garage for quite a few years.

So your only like 30 $ into it at this point. I will wait a few more months while it sits there then give you 20$ for it [:D]
