We will soon cross Glacier Natl Park on Rt 2 from Columbia Falls to East Glacier Village. Then we'll cross Yellowstone on Rts 191, 20, and14 from West Yellowstone to Wapiti. Can anyone provide any advice as to the difficulty, if any, associated with these routes?

Don't know about Glacier, but with the setup in your signature, the biggest problem you'll face is a buffalo in the road. I hope you're planning take in all the Yellowstone has to offer. Though my favorite part of the park was the Northwest area, the drive from West Yellowstone to the West Thumb area was particularly beautiful. Lots to take in.

From St. Mary we took 89 to 287 to 15 to 90. Then back onto 287 and then hopped onto 191 into West Yellowstone. It was a nice ride. Some really great views. Coming in thru the West Entrance to Yellowstone is nice, but take your time and enjoy the ride. Be aware that driving thru Yellowstone, depending on the traffic, can take you a long time!

With the exception of the Old Faithful area, parking lots at the geyser basins in Yellowstone are small. It's best to visit early in the day without a trailer attached.

If you want to stop and walk around the town of West Yellowstone, the visitor information center has a large parking lot. Coin laundries in town are associated with gas station/mini-marts, which seemed unusual to us.

So, you are coming down 191, then connecting to 20, just west of W Yellostone, then run through the park connecting with hwy 14 over to Wapiti WY, or to Wapiti campground?

Not familiar with 191 north of Yellowstone, but very familiar with Hwy 20 (all the way from Idaho Falls to W. Yellowstone), it a nice road, nice drive and the ride through the park really depends on when you go. I have a rule, I only travel through Yellowstone after the first weekend after Labor day till the first of June. Between those dates it is a zoo, and the animals are on two legs blocking the roads to take photos of Moose, Elk, Bison and an occasional bear.
But the roads are ok; it's just the tourists that are the problem.

Hwy 14 through the east side of the park, over to Cody is a very nice road; that last year did have some construction going on east of Wapiti to just west of Cody; however, that is probably over with, and they might have moved on down the road to another location. But there was never a long backup or a lot of time set idling to get through. They kept the traffic moving ok.

If you are going to Wapiti campground, what dates? I'll be there mid September for four days. It might just be my favorite FS campground. Camped there many times, over the years....

Awesome. Unfortunately you can take the Going To The Sun Road in Glacier due to the length. Just be careful on Hwy 2. One of the deadliest Hwys in the country.
