Just wondering who's been there and what else is there to do? Probably going to book tomorrow, probably site 10 because that's kind of what's available, in that area atleast...
Where's the playground? The site said there is a charge for the pool, how much?
We are planning on going to Steamtown and probably the little Zoo, Claws and Paws...what else? 9/4 year old boys...

Just trying to plan out a 3 day trip for next week...thanks for your information and suggestions...

Pool is $5. Take you camp ground ressie with you and there may/may not be a discount. That's how it works at Codorus SP. We've not been there yet, but are going last weekend of July

Well, I'll report back as I have booked site 10. It was about as close to the bathroom as I could get plus it was kind of out of everyone else according to the site date list.

Thanks for the info on the pool, I'm sure we'll go over once or twice as I don't care for lakes. I don't mind streams and large lakes, but the small ponds/lakes at some parks I won't go in.

So after staying for a few days, here's what I've found...

You are in the woods, everywhere, so the bugs are plentiful!!!! Take some sort of spray with you.
Site 10 is not kid friendly. They tried to landscape it at one time and put steps in up to the "patio" area. They weren't very good. Also, there was a fire ant nest under a large rock, that of course kids are magnetized to (maintenance was notified). I would probably try to book site 8 if you weren't into camping with yipping dogs...but the pet sites are by far the best. The sites on the opposite side of the road from 8/10/12 are pretty nice, but they are fairly open to the sun.

The pool is very nice, infact, probably nicer than any local YMCA's pool.

Steamtown was pretty cool, we didn't get to the animal park.

We were on site 31, non pet, and it is a gem! Almost full shade, and very level and large. The sites next to the bathhouse are a no as they are sunny AND the jet dryer hand dryers in the restrooms are VERY loud. The pool was only $3 each with our campground ressie. (take dash paperwork with you). Our friends kayaked a lot and said that was real nice. There is a boat launch on the campground side of the lake. None of the sites are lake front. THe access road for the sewer dump and boat launch runs between campground and lake.

We've been to Slocum several times...either with the truck camper or the 5vr. Slocum is one of the only SPs that I have encountered non-level or multi-level sites. I can't remember the number, but we stayed in one that was designated a "small" camper and my regular-cab truck with a slide-in camper almost didn't fit! The fire ring and table were down over a small bank...it was a crazy setup. Point being, this is one place you almost have to investigate before you pick a spot.

Not to mention, 10PM at night and the park ranger comes crashing up through the woods between the campgrounds without warning (umm, are you a bear?). And the fools across the loop road dumping several gallons of hot fryer oil onto their campfire...an emergency evacuation was almost in order!

But it is still one of my favorite SP CGs...

sure this post is almost 10 years old, and a lot has happened since then... but I've followed the advice above and reserved site 31. Normally I wouldn't bother with electric hookup site, but the boss wouldn't normally camp in this weather and thus... I need hookups for ez heating.
