This is my Uncle Fritz who would have turned 104 today. A career Army Officer, Fritz was stationed in Washington, D.C. in 1963 and was on the team that hastily-planned and oversaw Predident Kennedy's funeral. After 30 years he retired as a full-bird Colonel in 1971.

Most important, though, was he became a second father to me after my dad died when I was 18. I've made plenty of bonehead moves in my life but I shudder to think where I'd be had Fritz not been there for me during those formative years.
