That is a great deal! Cast iron makes so many things taste better.

We have a 12-in CI frying pan that was my grandma's and later my mothers. I don't know the brand without looking but a while back I did a little research and learned that it was made in the mid 1930s, and it's still going strong.

I have the same pan as neighbormike mentioned above. Lodge pans are a great value, and with a bit of elbow grease can be made as good as the best cast iron out there. I spent some time sanding the pan smooth and then seasoning it and it's great to cook with now.

How amazing to have a pan with the history of the one you have! Both for its age and the fact that it's been in the family for some time. Take care of it and it will last forever. And you're right, food does taste better.

One of the numerous reasons I like that 12” above, is it fits nicely in an RV oven! Of course it is great on the Weber or stovetop also.
