handrail for entry/exit of popup

Hi,

TTs have a nice swing-out handrail by their doors. I have wondered about adding one as I get creakier, but on my low wall pup it seems it might be too low to help. Have you seen any ideas for handholds while getting in and out? Thanks!

I walk out of the camper right foot first, body turned facing the front of the camper so I can use the one piece door as something to hold on to as I take one step at a time.

But, how about a pole with an attachment point on the side of the roof, comes down through a pair of rings at the door level, and then finally into the ground. The pole would need to be spring loaded at the top so that when you step out and the camper rocks a bit, the pole would not damage your roof. This would also help with the different heights you may have to deal with at various campsites.

This may also work without having to have the roof attachment point.

I saw a pop up that the owner use a walker as a handrail. It was just strapped to the side of the camper and the bottom was on the ground.. I guess the width would need to modified

Do you mean like this? I mounted the handrail on a 2x4. Notched the top so the 2x4 is locked in the edge of the roof. The bottom of the 2x4 has two bolts in T-nuts so I can loosen the bolts to extend the length till the 2x4 is tight. It is not meant to be as secure as a jungle gym.

Great shelf idea too. Thanks!
That's exactly what I was thinking. I love the shelf. Should be pretty simple to make and it's pretty flat. Even better I could easily attach a light on the shelf so I can see what I'm cooking . Gosh knows the camper wall seems to collect a whole bunch of stuff as it is.

My husband made me a step from the ground to the popup step which helped me a lot. I also put a fish table which I keep at the taller height by the door and use it to steady myself going on and out of the camper. When I am having bad days I park my walker by the door and set the brakes and use it. Thanks for the ideas above.

I put one of these on my Bayside. Just fit and works well.

It provides a solid hold and then also built a step below the existing one as when I did the axle flip, the first step was too high.

I was able to get at the back side of the trailer skin and put blocking in to support the handle. The manufacturer supplied screws that were 2" long to go into supporting material. It does not mount just to the skin of the camper - not enough support to do that safely.
