Hook up exterior propane stove direct to tank?

For a camp stove, it's just so we can get rid of wasting all those little green propane bottles. I was just wondering if it would have to have a filter for it.

never needed a filter for camp stove... just the heater requires one...
there are numerous youtube videos on refilling those one pound tanks if you are so inclined to do that
