This is a nice little campground about 6 miles out of Cherokee. Follow directions on the website because a GPS can lead you astray. We got a spot on the creek when there was a cancellation. Sites are gravel covered, some have water and power, many tent sites, one has a waterfall behind it, one is walk-in only by the bridge. Staff is friendly. Chad, the groundskeeper, is helpful and interesting to talk to. Baths are maintained and clean. There are two state roads that runs through the campground, but they have very little traffic and never saw any fast vehicles. We crossed one going to the showers and I do not remember seeing a car anytime I went.

Suggest going to the Cherokee Indian Museum first and then going to see the outdoor play "Unto These Hills" that night. The play has been running for 70 years. Even on a Monday night, the large amphitheater was half filled.

Mingo Falls was worth the short trek. Once you make it to the top of the steps, the rest is a piece of cake.

Local restaurants we tried- Peter's Pancake and Waffles for breakfast. Pancakes are good and large enough to share between the two of us. B.J.s Diner for lunch. Take out only. Outside tables by river. Makes an old fashioned hamburger. Nancy's for ice cream.
