Issue(s) using the forum on an IPad

One of the joys of my recent retirement is dumping my desktop PC. I now do my internet stuff on an IPad almost exclusively. A few hassle like things I’ve dealt with since the last update, namely:

The site will randomly auto correct with a word it chooses from the suggestion bar. Often the word chosen is not related to the pre-corrected word, sentence or thought I’m trying to illustrate.

The site will randomly add or compound a word what I’m typing with a word from the suggestion bar or some other word to create a nonsense word. Often I’ll backspace or delete the nonsense piece, make the correction and spacebar over to start the next word. On spacing, the site will auto correct back the nonsense word. It sometimes takes three or four tries for things to stick.

I’ll pick a word from the suggestion bar and it will only post the first two or three letters. Once In awhile I’ll get the word typed in correctly, and when I spacebar over, the typing drops back to the first few letters.

Once in awhile I’ll add the punctuation mark at the end of the sentence, and the site will randomly delete the letter or couple letters before the mark.

Sometimes I’ll edit and change a sentence starting by removing the capital letter at the sentences start. Although the capital letter key is not toggled on the keyboard, the site keeps capitalizing the letter that occurs where the pre-edit capitalization was. Sometimes it takes two or three tries to get it to stick.

I just thought it is worthwhile to share as I’ve been dealing with this stuff for awhile.

That sounds like an iPad thing. I am pretty sure you can turn off the auto correct and predictive typing.

My iPad is older and it can do funky things while typing on forums. I use the browser for Facebook and the Portal, and typing can be great, or frustrating.
While I enjoy relaxing in my recliner and web surfing, I really prefer the laptop when I need to type an answer or do a few other things. I would not change to solely using an iPad, as nice as some of the newer ones are.
(The other day, my friend was doing a pre-op questionaire on her phone, which took 2-1/2 hours. I did the same one last year, on my laptop, where it took less time, and far less frustration.)

It happens on my Samsung Tab s6 lite and on my moto g phone in various apps, so it's not unique to ipads

That sounds like an iPad thing. I am pretty sure you can turn off the auto correct and predictive typing.

I have similar issues on my Samsung A32 phone.

I would agree that it is my IPad, except:

1- I only have the problems mentioned when interacting with this site.

2- I didn’t have these problems interacting with this site on an IPad from when I joined the site to the update a year or two ago.

In defense of the site, I don’t interact with many other sites or apps, so I don’t have much of a sample size to draw conclusions from. I also can’t completely rule out operator error. I do thank everyone for their input so far. Take care and travel on.

Using/living on an old iPad air 2 and always turn off auto correct.
No problem( if I dont turn it off, Aliners dont exist and Basenjis turn into Basetts!)
