June, already! Camping season for us has just begun, yet seems to be flying by - I got a 3-month reminder email this morning, for our Labor Day week trip.

Here is the monthly battery charge reminder, for those who need one.

I have gotten as far as making some new plans for my trip next week. My friend isn't going with me, since she will just be 4 weeks post-knee replacement. The campground I'm going to is nice, but the water still
tastes a bit odd after filtering twice. (Camco in-line filter, Brita counter-top dispenser.) I had stocked up on bottled water, assuming two of us + the dog, so I have plenty. I decided it will make things easier to just use my on-board water and the bottled water. I'm draining the fresh tank, so I'll fill that this weekend. It will get drained and filled again at the end of the month, before our 9-night stay at a campground without water.

I went to “grocery shop” in my camper. Meaning I was out of something in the house kitchen & went to raid the camper provisions. In doing so, I discovered a light on so I turned it off.

That’s it & might be the sum total of “maintenance” this month. I got it out of the way early. 😁

I haven’t done anything yet in June… heading out one week from now. Did enough in April/ May! Replaced toilet seal, installed Microair ez touch thermostat, replaced water pump, installed six new speakers, cleaned gutters and washed, camped eight nights… not necessarily all in that order… Happy Camping!

Changed one of my sideboards. I was going to go picture heavy and do a step by step of the process but between the heat of the day and a good chance of thunderstorms tomorrow I just ripped through the task. I still have to do the other side so I can use that side to compile a "how to".

I used .063 aluminum diamond plate so I'll never worry about rot again😁
When I do the other side I'll make a proper write up

Since I am heading to Mt Rainier on Wednesday I figured I should fix the leak on my fresh water holding tank. Since this is a new to me pup and a storm was coming in I popped it up to see if it leaks. Took a two hour nap (in the pup) while waiting the storm out. No leaks so WA is good to go.

While we were camping last weekend, I found mouse turds and damage on one of our better chairs. We had FHUs, so I could get that and the undamaged one cleaned and dried in the sun.
Today, we started sorting through the other chairs, table, cart, patio mats, etc. in the garage.
No more mouse damage, but we did get the camping items + some other things washed. Since we'd had a roof leak as well as the mice, it was time to do some work in the garage.
As the patio mats and chairs dried, we loaded them into the truck, so there will be less to pack on Wednesday, for my weekend trip to a Sisters on the Fly event.
It was too windy last weekend to open the awning, so we did that today. As expected, it was dripping wet and mildewed, since water seeps in the from the ends every time we have rain. It's now drying after we mopped and rinsed it.
When Courtenay opened the drain extension on the fresh tank, he found some green algae right next to the threads. I decided to bleach sanitize the tank for the second time this season, since I plan to use it next weekend. I will probably still be hooking up the new adjustable water pressure regulator, to see how it registers at that campground, which I found had very high water pressure last year. It seems that our home water pressure is right about 44 psi, so trying to make sure that it's set for 50-55 psi (similar to what the water pump produces) didn't work.
I'll finish off the sanitizing this afternoon, and Courtenay will re-do the sink drain, again. We bought new plumber's putty, but it will be interesting to see if it lasts more than a year this time.

Cleaned out everything, restocked it, tp, paper towles, erc. Added fresh linnens and beding. Cleaned the grill. I really have to be better about cleaning before winter hits. It was a mess. Will get the yearly food stuff for the pantry this week, next week stock it with food for the promised land rally.

I'd done a pretty decent cleaning job before we closed up for the winter, although I didn't bother to wash the floor. I knew we'd track dirt in, so waited until just before the first trip to wash that. Since the trailer is parked with the door side next to the dirt strip, tracking in just happens.
With east canyon winds, dust can blow into the vents, even under the MaxxAir; so I just clean it up. Living in a dusty locale means I'm just used to it.

I finished sanitizing, and we replaced the worn plug on the drain extension. Courtenay fixed the sink drain, and replaced the door handle latch. We didn't realize just how badly the last couple have worked. I will probably order another of this style, so we have an extra one.
We have 5 over the door, RV, towel bars, The foam stuff that was supposed to hold them in place had all worn out, so I removed it. The closest thing we could find that was the correct thickness was poster foam tape, so we'll see how that works.

Long time lurker, we moved to the PNW last year and finally got sick of seeing our camper just sitting in the RV parking space. So into the garage, in the past couple of weeks: Got officially licensed, pulled all of the old decals off, sealed and painted the roof, and now painting the bottom portion. New butyl tape and sealing of all parts that are on the outside of the camper, going on our first trip of the year end of the week!

Wonder of wonders, it seems like the drip from the fresh water tank drain extension, which we'd never solved since we added the extention, may be gone. We put a new cap on yesterday, since the old one was worn, and just icky from the algae on the threads, and road dirt on the outside. I suspect the algae may be because the threads stayed damp, but this is the first time we've seen it over the years.
I found generic caps for the water system on Amazon, so bought a batch of them, we've never replaced the low point drain ones, and it's nice to have more than one extra, just in case. I also ordered another of the same door latch/lock we installed yesterday, it works so well. We do plan to keep tabs on it, since all the road vibrations caused the innards of a previous one to loosen so it stopped working.

Our A-frame came with a WiFi Ranger Sky 4 mounted to rear roof section at the back of the camper. As I had already decided that it isn’t useful for us,

it would make a great place to mount a back up camera and use its power supply to power the camera.

I picked up a wireless back up camera kit on Amazon for $70

146448-albums3677-picture22634.jpeg

and found a new-old-stock WiFi Ranger Sky 3 on eBay for $40 (didn’t want to make any irreversible changes in case I want to take it all back to stock plus the Sky 3 has an external antenna which will help signal strength).

I started with the top of the Sky 3. I mounted the camera with a couple of sheet metal screws; drilled a hole and installed a rubber grommet to run the wires into the housing; and gutted the antenna & ran the camera’s antenna wire up into the antenna mast. Once all was in place, I used liberal amounts of silicone inside and out to seal the penetrations and keep the wires where I wanted them.

Then I disconnected the power from the circuit board on the Sky 4 on the trailer (just two screw terminals so easy to reverse if I decide I want to go back to stock) and connected the power to the plug supplied with the camera kit.

All that was left was to plug the camera in and screw down the top.

When we’re hitching up, I just have to stick the monitor to the windshield of my TV with the suction cup mount, plug it into the power port in the center console and turn on the switch in the trailer for the camera.

Haven’t tried it out in real life yet but I was able to drive half a block away from our stored trailer and still get a strong signal so I don’t see the distance being an issue.

Our Chalet Aframe roof lift stopped working a year ago May after a horrendous weekend of high winds and trying to camp in many places and fish (trying to find a not so windy area). We figured out how to manually lift all last summer, tho a hassle. Our son recently disconnected the lift to do testings to see if just a part needs fixing or the whole thing. The Chalet company is totally unresponsive, but I know our engineer son will figure it out and fix our trailer!

Opened up and did a final check before heading out soon. And found I forgot to release the pressure in the water system, so the faucet was dripping while folded over and soaked the counter top. Which swelled and looks like I will be replacing that next winter. So hurray for me.

Also added some pipe to the shower drain, so it now drains to the same side as the sink. This will make it so I only need one gray water tank.

This month, we re-joined the pop-up family with the purchase of a 2009 Aliner Scout :) My family had a 1983 Coleman Sun Valley from 2020-2022 but had to pass it on to someone more handy when the lift cable snapped. We've been tenting it for a while and now we're back in action with the Aliner and back on this board for tips and tricks. The kids named her Dorito because of the triangle shape. We struggled with the decision for a while because we're a family of four (kids 4 and 6) but we believe the camper should only be used for sleeping and changing so we're ready for the tiny life! I just can't wait to decorate Dorito and get on the road this summer.
