March 2023 - What did you do for your camper?

I ordered compostible plates, a connector for our 20 lb propane tank to use for our camp stove. Received a photo of our aliner that's being stored in northern Minnesota. Looked good! Lots of snow up that way, the weather there comes via Duluth. So aliner is doing great, of course I can't see the inside so we'll have to wait until we get up there.

Cleaned out the front storage and rearranged the contents. Making room for the new oven stove combo I just purchased. I bought the hike crew propane oven. A little cheaper than the camp chef. But looks nice and seems to work well.
Pulled off the propane tanks to get filled.

Getting ready to add a 4th solar panel to my inventory. This one will not be part of my current set of 3 which are attached to the camper's roof, but will be an independent panel for use with my Jackerys. As a frame for this panel, I'm planning on using 1 inch PVC with a cut slit for the panel to slide into. I'm thinking of storing it on the ceiling of the camper, like the way the door is stowed. I'll post in a separate tread when I'm done.

Also added a double-gang outlet to the entryway of the Aliner. We bring an extra fridge/cooler when we're going for more than a night or two... which travels in the entryway. Sometimes there are other odds and ends that want to get charged up during transit or while we are out there. Makes it a little simpler to plug stuff in without popping up or crawling in there on my (increasingly old) knees. Headed out to the desert in a few days!

Finished the valve cover gasket install on the TV, gave my friend a ring to see if I can take the TV to his shop this weekend for some work. Decided that I am going to paint over the elastomeric/Grizzly Grip covered roof to save some $ and spruce it up a bit. Weather seems like it will be nice this weekend so I may buy some propane and boondock in the driveway to test out systems and rekindle my spirit to get motivated to make my trip. Weather has been a PITA, and may have to postpone my trip I planned for April. But its getting there.

Shoveled some snow so I could shift the trailer a few feet. We're adding solar panels to our garage and they need to dig a trench from the garage to the house to tie in to our electric. As soon as it's a bit warmer I'll pull one of the wheels to take to Fleet Farm, or other farm supply place to see if I can find a spare. I think grandpa cannibalized wheels from something that was already vintage in circa 1960 when he started building the pup. Regular tire stores haven't been able to identify the style of rims, much less order one.

Bought a new Arlo motion sensitive camera/flood light to watch over where the camper sits in our driveway during the season - Starting to gather camping supplies in one place. Wife washed all our camping clothes and bed linens. Moved my batteries to where I will trickle charge them the day before we pick up the camper. Gathering other stuff like propane tanks and other stuff in the garage waiting for the camper's return

Unfortunately, I had to give my PUP away this last year. :-(

I was no longer able to store it on the property because of a change in county ordinance, and the storage facilities around here are just too damned expensive. I hope to get a new one when we move to Idaho or Utah this year. California is sucking more and more every year I live here.

The outdoor/coated canvas I ordered for a new picnic table cover arrived yesterday. I sewed it into the cover today. Probably the most uncooperative fabric I've used for one of these covers in 25 years or so, but it should be a nice one. My shoulders may forgive me by tomorrow, after wresting with it to cut, mark, and sew it.

Last weekend market place score. $125 brand new grill and bumper mount. In two weeks run propane line from manifold containing the 3 burners, stove/heater/water heater. Started researching other manifolds.
GASHER 1PCS Brass Pipe Fitting, Barstock 4 Way Cros, 1/4" x 1/4" x 1/4" x 1/4" NPT Female Pipe https://a.co/d/1SrP3Ri

Might do this approach.

This is our first post here. I’m Chris, and the love of my life and my travel partner is Julie. Chuckie (hence Chuckster) is our pit-mix “son.” The three of us drove cross country to and from the California desert (starting and ending in Philadelphia) last summer and spent a month in an Airbnb. On the way back we decided we wanted to be RV people. So after months of research we decided to dip our toes into the RV lifestyle pool with a used camper, a 2000 StarCraft Venture 2601. Bought it from the original owner who kept it in great shape. We did some redecorating to make it our own and also booked our first trip for May to Gettysburg (we live in Philly, so relatively short trip). Some before and after pics below.

I would love updates on how well that works. I have thought about getting one

We have our first trip in June. I'll post a review when we get back. My sister has the camp chef oven and it works well. I did order a digital thermometer to get a more accurate reading the gauge on the front is very inaccurate. I pre-heated it and it was reading 250 but it was closer to 350. So it will take some time to figure out I'm sure.

Going to have to get the propane stove out of the trailer. I'm going to try tapping a couple of the maple trees in the yard to boil down for a little home made syrup. I'm told the vapor from boiling can be a bit sticky, so best done outside.

These Stove/Oven units are sometimes one of the more difficult items to transport due to their size. I have the Camp Chef and it's quite good but since I don't oven cook that much, I only take it with me on my Thanksgiving / Christmas trips so I can cook the turkey. Oh, and will come in handy during the coming apocalypse. [LOL];)[:D]

Lots of vapor, sinnce, IIRC, it takes 40 gallons of sap to produce one gallon of syrup. One of my classes did s study of maple syrup producing families in northern NY, back in the '70s. It was interesting to see the sugar houses, small boilers for the yard, etc. Tales of loosened wallpaper from boiling sap in the kitchen also come to mind.
I wonder how much of a 20# tank of LP it will take to make syrup.
[taking the field trips for that study, it was done before sap season, so it was cold enough I remember trees snapping like gunshots, has come back to haunt me. Last year, I developed chilblains on the toes I almost - or did - get frostbite in. I guess I was lucky it took 45+ years to develop.]
