Yep lol, he had to pull it up a small grass bank, but he was released after the pic & swam away strong, he even released the channel cat, wife already had dinner planned...
Yay, a lucky day for the bass...AND the channel cat! I always try to let mine loose too, but occasionally one of 'em swallows the lure and I can't get it out without destroying the fish. I usually feel bad...until I taste the thing that night and start wondering: why don't I keep one just a little more often? ; )

Ooof. I haven’t pup camped since i was a kid and have been working on the camper i bought last year, anticipating and dreaming about the memories we will make. Some of these stories are making me cringe because my crew would be probably be the ones people would complain about 🫣. My kids are 6 and 3 and are wild, spirited, outdoor, loud maniacs! We opted for a camp driveway reservation for this Memorial Day weekend. The door may be slammed 600 million times, there will be constant bumps, bangs and squeals of delight from the pup tent. There will be grumps, groans, wails and crying when feelings are hurt and they are so sleepy, but too excited to go to bed. I will be sitting back and let these little boys enjoy a long summer weekend with their momma, they will be the stars of their own camping expedition. Maybe we will make it to an actual campground this year, maybe not, but either way, we are having fun.

I will be reflecting on the men and women who i served with, some who gave everything. I will be thinking about their families, their kids who are now grown. I feels sad and happy, because these reflections over the years have humbled me.

Wishing you all the best camping experiences this weekend, however your roll! Stay graceful!

Driveway camping is cool!
The sound of kids running wild at a campground is the sound of joy and of future happy memories. And I say that as a cranky old lady.
Hoping y’all make it to a campground this summer, and thank you for your service.

Turkey Point Provincial Park:

Really nice place. Never been before, even though it is only 1½ hours from our house.

Superb mountain biking:

My daughter rides in a mountain biking club and they were doing a group ride here today so we just booked two nights with the popup on a whim.

Will definitely be back.

What brand of cheese? I’ve tried plant based cheeses many times & it’s all been yucky. I’d really like a good one, without having to try making my own.
Daiya. Miyoko used to make the best alt - cheddar but she stopped as she developed a new recipe and then the company fired her from her own company.... .... She wanted to sell products that were good for people and they just wanted to sell as much product as possible and make as much money as possible.
Parmelo's creamery makes a good alt - cheddar but it's harder to find.

When we camp on holidays, we usually try to be pretty remote. We opted for a shake-down trip at the Silver City (NM) KOA. Much better than expected. We have the end site, so no one on our door side.
We drove to the Gila Cliff Dwellings yesterday. We saw a new bird for us, and a flower. After all these years of exploring the SW, both were fun to identify as new. Today, my husband is off on a longer hike than I do anymore.
