Hello from New York! Just 'inherited' a 1992 Starcraft StarLite PUP and I'm going to have LOTS of questions! I've been a tent camper (or sleep-in-someone-else's-trailer camper) my whole life, so owning and maintaining this will be a first for me. PUP is in decent shape to start; minor, old water damage around the roof vent, in which the previous owner sealed shut, 'fixing' the leak; expected canvas mildew; but SUPER CLEAN otherwise, which essentially negates many of the issues!

My first questions revolve around the kitchen gallery...or lack thereof. There's a stovetop that hooks onto the outside of the trailer, an icebox (not refrigerator) and then just low cabinets...no sink, but there's a water hookup on the outside. Does that mean the gallery was removed? Can I replace that? I've been searching the web for days and can't seem to find much regarding this. Any help or direction greatly appreciated! Looking forward to 'meeting' you all!

The galley may or may not have been removed. Does it look like the water system once connected near the remaining cabinets? Some pups only have an "above floor" water tank; both of ours originally had 5 gallon jugs for on-board water (the jugs we used for ground camping were much more handy). often there is also a city water connection.
Does it look like the stove was originally an inside/outside one?
If it was removed, there should be some evidence in the cabinets.
An icebox only is not unusual. Our first pup (1984 Palomino) had an icebox, which we removed in favor of more storage space - we had a far better cooler to use. Our second (2010 Coleman) had no icebox or 'fridge at all.
Since you're an experienced ground camper, you should have the equipment to begin by using the camper as a glorified tent on wheels.Then you can decide how you want to mod it - it all depends on the type of camping you want to do with it - with Shore Power, dry camping in campgrounds, or boondocking with no amenities.

We actually removed the sink on both of ours, using our RV dish pans was much easier, and we could do that outside or inside, with a gray water pail.

I'm a little slow...finding post that have updated messages is a bit tricky for me I guess!

kitphantom - I'm a native WNYer myself! Upon closer inspection, and actually being able to use the PUP, it looks like if there was a water tank, it would've been above floor...but it's gone. I can see where the galley was, and there's a fitting for exterior water hook-up, but that's all. The entire cabinet that would 'pop-up' is gone, and just the base cabinet is left.

As for the stove, you're correct. I've discovered the hole in the other cabinet is for the propane quick-connect on the inside...although, I don't know how I feel about cooking inside...think I'll stick to outside for now!

I too ripped out the icebox. It didn't seal very well and have opened up a ton of storage space. Coolers work for us!

After our first adventure in it, I'm thinking I will live without putting in a new galley. I feel like it's just asking for trouble. My hubby and I want to gut the PUP this winter and replace with lighter cabinets. If anything, maybe we'll put in a galley-like cabinet w/out the sink just so that I have some normal height counter space.

We found that using the pup and then deciding what we wanted to do with it was a good start. In the first pup, we thought we'd use the sink and not the stove. Turned out exactly opposite, and we maintained the same set-up with the second one.
One thing you need to inspect on yours is whether the cabinet and seat frames are designed as part of the support for the outer walls. If so, figure out how to substitute for anything you remove, or that has been removed.

As for finding updates, there are a couple of ways:
Look to the left column, under your user info. "Updated topics" will list threads that you've posted in that have had new answers. "Recent unread topics" are just that, all topis that you have not read recently, which may include ones you've posted in.
If you're looking for a specific thread that you've posted in, you can also click on your "profile" under user info, then click on "Show posts". You can scroll through that, even if yours was the last post in a thread, so it won't show in "updated topics" or "recent unread", you can find it.
