BTW, I tried posting in the news section, but I was of "insufficient privilege". Moderators, feel free to move to the appropriate forum.

That website looks more like a slide deck for someone looking for an angel.

I had my eye on the trail manor for years but could never afford. This is downright ugly and way oversized. if your gonna make a black camper you better have those windows open all the way to add airflow even AC will struggle to cool that in the summer.

Light on specifications regarding drive motors and drive control. Maybe a two direction 'surge' hitch that not only applies regeneration braking when the trailer moves forward relative to the tow truck (not 'vehicle', at 7500 lbs. it necessitates a TRUCK) but applies trailer wheel power when the truck moves away during acceleration and climbing?
The touted zero range reduction claim implies there is sufficient power delivered to tag along 'pulling its own weight'. The added claim of '50%' loss of fuel economy when towing a conventional trailer, plus the 300 mile claim of unladen truck range would mean just 150 miles in that truck when towing a conventional trailer. By extension the electric drive is able to make up that loss, or power to propel the trailer sufficiently to re-coup the 150 mile loss in the truck. The truck has a what? 100 kWh battery?, so the trailer has to contribute 50 kWh for a total of 150 kWh to go 300 miles? The larger optional battery is 80 kWh. Arrive at your boondock campsite with just over 1/3 of the energy. You saved a bit by getting the standard battery size? You used all 40 kWh just driving there and have zero power left for your all electric camper.
Is the trailer capable of using a fast DC charger at a similar rate of charge as the electric tow truck? Do you need to unhitch to plug the trailer in for a re-charge and move the truck to plug it in? Lets hope you don't need to make TWO stops, one at a Tesla compatible location and another at a J1772 or chademo plug location.
in full disclosure: My personal experience is that the tow range loss with gasoline, diesel, biodiesel, battery electric as the tow vehicle energy, and with the trailers I have had hitched to those vehicles, has been about 33%, not 50%. My calculation musings above are based on Lightship's numbers.
We have a not-to-dissimilar, hard-walled, powered telescopic roof lift, large glass area, Alto R camper on order. Yeah, heat gain with all that glass was a concern of mine.

This is designed by someone who has had very little experience with trailers. Putting the wheels in the middle of something this long will result in something their airplane industry calls "tail strikes". While this may be aerodynamically superior, there is only one place where this is practical, and that is probably Burning Man or other music festivals where the ground is totally flat. I do like the concept of aided propulsion though.

While I'll be surprised/shocked if this thing ever comes to market, I do appreciate the visionary, if misguided thinking behind the concept. At least people are trying to look past the same basic concept that's dominated the market for what, 50 years?

Not really, articulating (aka trailers) with drive trains have been done for decades. It actually use to be harder, but now you can actually use wheel speed sensors and throttle position (or pedal position ) sensors to decide how much power to transfer to the trailer drive trains. With that, you can actually do automatic sway control, abs, etc.

It would be phenomenal when applied to off road trailers, as sometimes its the trailer that sucks up your forward momentum. I am not saying run the motors all the time, just for those moments when your 4x6 or 4x8 needs to be a 8x8. with the right jack, this thing could auto park itself as well.

The website is like a new age tendonitis making thing.. how much do I have to scroll. Did anyone find a breakover/departure angle? lol

I just want a run of the mill 16ft or less TT.
I cannot bring myself to spend what is being asked.
I see plenty of stock now at RV Dealerships
But the prices are still nuts due to inflation my guess.
First Covid crushed inventory and demand and prices soared.
Now inflation.
My pop up new in 19 has not changed in 23 other than colors a porch light
and cabinet led lights.
and they are almost double what i paid in 19.
