The DW wanted to stop by an RV dealership on the way back from camping this past weekend. Because we camp so much (two to three times a month) it is getting old setting up and breaking down. The DW fell in love with the Koala like the one below
Looks nice enjoy. Save your gas money. We went dark and came back due to fuel towing cost. My Silverado went from 20 to 12 in a minute. Don't get me wrong its nice to pull in and unhook and camp. Nice rig. Stay here and shoot the BS when you go dark.
I pulled my moms 2011 19ft grey wolf that weighs 4100lbs for two weeks this summer. I was getting on average 9miles to the gallon. I was shocked. I didn't think it would be that much of a difference in my 2010 V8 Toyota Tundra. I was thinking like 12mpg at the least. When I pull the pup I get 16 miles to the gallon, average.
Yes if it was up to me I would just stick with the PUP but the DW wants something little easier to setup and packup. This pic I think is model 26ss but we are waiting on the model they are suppose to be coming out with that has the outside tailgating kitchen. Yes I know that the gas mileage will take a big hit.
Thinking of doing that ourselves. We really like our pup-but would like to have more room and be self-contained. Looking for a TT-but not in a big hurry. We are getting to the age where we don't want to mess with all of the work !
Due to Asthma we have to have hard walls and gasketed windows and door but we sure don't enjoy the fuel consumption that goes with a TT. Our front wheel drive Ford Escape gets 25MPG bobtail and 13MPG towing our 16ft 3000lb TT.
OK...I found the Koala model with the tailgate kitchen...it is Model
24RBK...don't know the pricing yet...the dealership is checking on this for
us. I'm sure there are other options available as this one has the simulated fireplace. The fireplace is electric heat so might be a good option to keep from burning so much propane. We currently have a quartz electric heater we use and it is great.
Anyway...here are the photos...these were sent to the dealership from the
Sorry for all the garbage letters between the pixs. Doing cut and paste here on my smartphone. I'm hoping that with the aerodynamic front I'll won't get awful gas mileage but know it is a given with heavier camper. My pup right now is about 3200lbs
