Thats
I just canceled one of the Sisters on the Fly events I had scheduled, in early May (in Colorado).
My husband is likely going to to conference, so would not be home for parking the trailer in our interesting driveway. I could back the popup in solo, but the wider/longer travel trailer? No way am I doing that without a spotter.
Also, my pal's knee replacement surgery has been rescheduled from this week to that week, and I'd like to be on-call, just in case. Her husband is taking time off, but I can be available day of surgery to let the dog out, etc.
I'm hoping for no more changes this season. Our friends from Tucson got reservations for the site next to us for when they join us after Labor Day. Only two more reservations to go to fill out the year we have planned. I can make those at the end of the month and a week later.
That's too bad you can't go, but sounds like your planning well, I've done a lot of reservations, just might play some by ear at the end of the season. There's usually some non reservable sites open later, or I'll chicken out and see how their filling up soon. You never know.
You're a good friend to have, I'm sure your friend and her husband are happy that you'll be there for them.

I made the reservation for North Rim (Grand Canyon) this morning. I got one of our first choices; there were a couple of sites that were about equal on our list; the lower site number one was available so I took that. It's also a bit more separated than the one we had the last 2 years, just a little more challenging to level, we've had it in the past too.
Next week, I'll make the reservations for South Rim, and that should finish the reservations for the year. We already have the Flagstaff KOA reservations for first, last, and transition night for the Sept/Oct Grand Canyon trip.

I am planning on hitting the North Rim some time this year as well.
This year is making us happy that we changed our annual trips a few years ago from the end of May to fall. It will be interesting to see how much they actually are able to have open by May 15. The first time we went was one of the heavy snow years in the early '90s, but nothing like this. We were there Memorial Day weekend time-frame and they were still shoveling out trails. The photos posted from this week pretty much show buildings in snow up to eaves. ETA: a video posted today of one of the rangers driving past the entrance station showed just the roof visible - which means the snow on the road is packed enough to drive on at that level.

The wife and I have been talking about camping trips for this year. So far our son and his girlfriend already asked to use the pup in the beginning of June for a weekend trip to PA. As for Fathers Day, we are still up in the air as to what we are doing. Right now we can't plan that much since I just ordered all the parts I need to fix the rear suspension on the Explorer. But I think we are looking at a few weekend or long weekend trips this year. Our big trip this year we rented a house on the Outter Banks in August. Guess we will see what the year brings!!!

We may already be changing or adding to our trips for the year. We ran into a friend at church this morning who asked Courtenay if he'd like to join him and another friend for a jet boat assisted hike near Moab. It's something Courtenay has wanted to do for years, so if it means changing plans around so he can do it, I'm good. We plan so much in advance, it makes me a bit antsy to not have any idea when they're thinking of going. The friend is a teacher, though, so that sort of puts bookends on possible dates. At this point, if he gets to take the trip, if I can go with him and camp, I'll do it, but I'm not holding my breath for a space with the TT. [Over the years, the other 2 guys have been part of the team for a 24-hour bike race in AZ, as well as the Mt. Taylor Quad here in NM. It's probably been 10 years or so since they actually did a race event - they got snowed out of a bike event after the last one they did.]

Update on our TV: Rear suspension parts replaced, getting an alignment this afternoon.
Now that the repairs were done we went ahead and made Father's Day weekend reservations with our friends. Doing a 4 night long weekend!!! This time we are staying at the Lancaster/New Holland KOA. Something different for us. We go to this area usually the first weekend in Novemeber and stay at the Mills Bridge Village & Camping Resort. This time we won't have to freeze our butts off!!!! We got sites with tree coverage cause we know it will be hot! This time we will have the AC running at night instead of the heaters!!
