Popup Rated for 30 Amps… only 20 Amps Available

Entering our second year of popup camping and I see a lot of sites on campgrounds offer only 20 Amps. My popup is rated for 30 Amps. I assume that means that if I were to run a “full load” (everything on) that I might trip a breaker.

My question is; if we are using the fridge, some lights and electric kettle, and electric toaster, would the amperage that they would draw cause the breaker to trip? (We don’t have AC).

I think we would be fine, but my traveling companion is worried that we might have an issue. Let me know your thoughts peeps.

Using an electric kettle and toaster at the same time may trip a breaker.

My TT is 30a. I often use a 20a outlet. I can run the AC, lights, fridge, TV, and other small things at the time. The only thing I do differently on 20a is turn the AC off when using the microwave.

there is a difference in a 30 amp plug and the 20 amp plug at most campgrounds and there is an adapter that allows you to plug YOUR 4 prong 30 amp Trailer plug into the 3 prong 20 amp outlet cost about $5

As xxxapache mentioned, don't try to use the toaster and kettle at the same time - all other combinations should be fine.

Use a decent extension cord, consider #10 AWG.

Thanks all, sounds like a work around is doable.

As mentioned above. I will add that on some pedestals I may be able to add an extension cord from the second outlet so I can fish power in the camper for additional power as If you have a second circuit to use. Just watch how much you use on that as it’s not protected as your camper. I’ve put my coffee pot on that while the camper circuit powers everything else. A good rule of advise if your device has an heating element it is almost always a high powered item and may not be able to work with another high powered device. if I were you I would use your camper fridge on propane (if able) so the camper isn’t pulling power to run that. Or should I say as much power to run it.
