After struggling with that worthless, energy sucking, get on your knees little 3 way domestic refrigerator I came EC103680-618D-4E0C-9824-D92303AC965D.jpeg 7AF3BFE1-1A55-4290-A8E0-6704B4452EF7.jpeg up with this for my 2009 flagstaff. I live in Idaho and spend most of my winter boondocking in Quartsite AZ. I take my time and spend 3 to 4 days on the road sleeping at truck stops, Walmart and hospitals. My tow vehicle is a 2003 Yukon fully converted for camping. I have solar, diesel heater, tv so I’m very comfortable and don’t need or want to pop up the camper but it would be nice to use the new refrigerator in the pop up so I did this::. Removed the dometic, removed the two access panels, cut out the space between the panels. Purchased a 45 quart compressor chest refrigerator with wheels and a handle. Purchased a set of 18 inch full extension 200lb drawer slides. Purchased a stainless steel barbecue door that almost fit perfectly. Had t get creative with hinges and locking hasp. Built a tray base. The refrigerator slides outside with the top down and rolls out inside when camping. The pop up has a single 160 watt solar panel and a single Agm battery. Plenty of power to run the refrigerator and the camper 7/24 for months.

How much juice does something like that use if you don’t have the sun to charge the battery? I often camp in the woods and at best can get filtered sun but some places nothing.

The electrical usage has been discussed ad nauseam online, we don't track it as long as we get sun every few days, or have Shore Power. Lithium batteries charge faster and thus soak up all available solar power.
