Single people who love nature and camping in an RV

I too am single and am retiring tomorrow. I am leaving with a girlfriend for a week of camping up the Oregon coast. I have camped alone but it is so much fun when I go with my single girlfriends. The only problem I have is each time I have gone out the pup finds a new way to frustrate me. I am still working on getting a wheel well after the last trip one fell off and was smashed to pieces on the freeway. I am getting a new camp buddy next week, a new puppy to go in the pup. Should be an exciting summer if the pup holds together. The RV place says "that is what you get when you buy an old RV". To me a 2006 was an upgrade from the 1988 I had before. I am spending way too many trips to the RV place and hearing that phrase too many times. I figure I will get to the point that nothing else can go wrong, just dreaming I think.

Welcome and I say go and enjoy... We have friends... both were single camping and just managed to be across from each other at a state camp ground... conversation started with a passing hello.. Now 4 years later their inseparable...
Come to the Sewer and can meet them... LOL
I saw your other Reply first;) That’s a good idea, maybe they’ll be some great single guys! :)

Wow! What a subject. I often think about what it was like to be married. Notice I said "was". I was happy, but apparently she was not. We had a travel trailer and both loved camping, the outdoors, and the wide open spaces. We were married in 1969. But something went wrong in 1982. Actually I know what went wrong. My friend David decided he wanted her more than I did. He treated her terribly. Then one day he died alone in a Hotel room in Arizona. Now we are both single again. I never remarried. It just didn't' seem right for the kids sake. We are still friends after all this time. She wants to go camping with me, but I just can't do it.

I do go camping with my cousin Mikey (70) and my sons (41, and 50). But if they can't go, I go alone. At my age (75 now) I shouldn't be alone in the boondocks. I think it is too late in life for me to find another camping partner male or female. I'm not sure I would feel safe being in the mountains with a person I don't know. I sometimes wish I could accidentally find a single lady camper on the side of the road who needs some help. A flat tire or something. Maybe we'd strike up a conversation and find out that we are both going to the same camping area. Maybe she wouldn't mind having a camping neighbor close by just in case. I think that's about the only way it's going to work for me.

I will say it’s tough out there but I know people your age that have found companionship. Don’t give up!

Hi Don. I have been going up to my daughter’s camp and staying up there overnight about once a week this whole past summer, which I loved to do but I haven't done any other camping. FB7E96C0-B0A6-40C0-8FE2-EB3A5C8FC58B.jpeg

I'm single but I camp with my two kids, and often my brother (also single).

In the past year we've gone to:

  • Zion National Park (twice)
  • Wasatch National Forest
  • Yellowstone National Park
  • Capitol Reef National Park
  • Zion National Park (again, planned in October)
We have access to some camping property right on the Zion border, which is why we visit there so frequently.

Next year we have planned:

  • A trip to Canyonlands National Park
  • A trip to Great Basin National Park
  • A trip into the Uinta National Forest area
  • Either Arches National Park or Bryce Canyon National Park
  • A trip to the Escalante / Grand Staircase National Monument area in proximity to Dixie National Forest and Fishlake National Forest.
Certainly there will be others. We got six trips in during 2021. I'm hoping for eight in 2022.

Hog Waller, GA
You can join ExPo; it has regional forums and members post with local activities, camping trips, places to go.
When we moved to GA we didn't know anybody. I joined ExPo, started to post, and we've got a very robust group in the southeast that camps together regularly.
Some areas of ExPo can be browsed by non-members but the local sections are members only: https://expeditionportal.com/forum/forums/regional-expo-chapters.79/

You can come camp with us anytime, Mj
