Smoky fires and large busted women not wearing bras

Just got back from camping at Silver Lake SP on the Silver Lake Sand Dunes by Lake MI. Gorgeous area.

Two observations: 1. people have lost the skill of fire making. Sure, some smoke is gonna happen, but for HOURS on end and when you notice the smoke is blowing right into my PUP from not only your fire ring but also the other two neighbors don't you think some pity would prevail and folks would maybe try to get their fire(s) a little less smoky.

2. there are lots of women who think it is ok to wander around their site and the bathroom with flimsy tops and NO bra. I guess this can be overlooked if you are over 80, but REALLY, just because you are camping do people think we should have to overlook the lack of proper undergarments? Another related issue is the hot young thing emerging from her boyfriends tent at 10am with only her bra and short shorts on in full view of my 11 year old boy. Done ranting. thanks for listening.

Dude, nobody's forcing you to look at women's chests. Do you really think the other campers should have to harness up the gals under their shirts just so you can feel more comfortable looking at them? I say either look away or kick back with a couple of National Geographics and get comfortable with the human form.

I am a dudette, I guess I should change my name. I know noone was forcing me to look at them (multiple people) but it was so indecent that it was like a train wreck, difficult to look away and the pair was in the site right next to us, just swaying thru the whole morning. sorry.

Don't you think this might help ingrain the love of camping in your burgeoning youngin? I'll bet he's the first one packed for next trip. [LOL]

Reminds me of the day I was fishing from shore in a remote boat landing in Northern MN with my then 10 y/o son. It was a very hot day and there was no one around. A beautiful 20 something woman walked up the dirt road to my truck, and asked if we minded if she went swimming for a short time. We said OK, and she stood right by the tailgate and took off all her clothes and hopped in. I had to remind my son to breathe. When she emerged, she put her clothes back on, and I offered her a cold soda from the cooler. She graciously accepted and wandered back into the woods. My son is now a devout outdoorsman.

They have rights!!
If you are offended it is your fault and your problem and you are being intolerant, ignorant, biased and...

Well..... I can't even imagine what I'd say to this person without a bra on, I was honestly kind of afraid of her. Did anyone see 'Monster' with Charlize Theron? she was kind of like that. The other lady was the cutest Chinese granny I ever saw. Sorry if this is racist.

Right there you set your own trap and stepped into it.
You are a bigot and intolerant and...? of people who might be gay - and I just stepped into my own trap too!.
These people are simply trying to be comfortable and express themselves and enjoy their rights of freedom of expression and have no interest in "societies" or "The Man's" pressures or expectations or selfish wants.
That's my point in saying that if this situation is offensive to you you should move or leave.
These people are protected by the rights of freedom of expression and you my friend have lost all of your rights as have I.

I like that story Byrd_Huntr. I'm sure your son appreciates the wild life now! [LOL]
I don't care what other women are wearing just as long as they're not butt naked and then I would have to beat my hubby up! [:D]

Twisty, I was not implying that she was a homosexual, just that she looked like she could beat me up and might enjoy doing it. Did my post imply that I was trying to infringe on her right to walk around without a bra? no. Just pointing out that it seems there are several such cases of folks walking around improperly dressed in campgrounds then out in general society. Heck, I'm guilty of it too, I rarely put on makeup or even brush my hair when camping, even walk from the showers with a towel on my head. Would I do this going to the grocery store? no. I suppose the answer is that campground etiquette is different then what is normally acceptable.

Kinda sounds like a country song. [:D]

Another popular response on The Portal is: Pictures or it didn't happen. [:D] [:D] [:D]

I think the song also needs something about a half drunk handle of Old No. 7

I have had their types of encounters at all sorts of campgrounds across Michigan. I can remember as a college student on the beach at another Michigan state park two women removing their tops completely and putting on sunscreen. Couldn't believe my eyes and had to ask the guy I was with if that really happened or if I was crazy. People do all sorts of things camping cause they are outdoors and outside of the constraints of their own city, town or village. I also have seen guys wearing bannana hammocks that the belly covered the front for the most part at our lovely state parks walking to the showers. It happens and the thing I think to remember is to model what we think is good behavior and remember to respect others choices as long as they aren't breaking the laws. It was just over a decade ago that Michigan had a law where it was illegal to swear infront of women or children. If needed there are some great Christian campgrounds around the state as well, not to say those things wouldn't happen there either but not as likely.

Also state park and locally sold firewood is not always seasoned or good wood even. Michigan can't transport wood and number of times only thing available at the state park was wet or green and doesn't like to burn always and more novice campers don't realize how to dry it out by the fire once started or know how to get descent wood I start.

My first thought was... where was this and what site #?? lol.

As much as I admire the female form, as a happily married man I must sadly agree that if you're visiting or in view of strangers harness the gals.. (I know...booo....hisss..)
But sadly I say it because most I see running commando have no business doing so. It's like driving past a train wreck, and I always point them (hee hee..them) out to my wife so she can share in my misery.

As far as the gal doing the walk of shame... I think a little applause would have gone a long way towards preventing that again...

Peacedude....you also have to take into consideration there MIGHT be 1,000 other reasons those gals aren't wearing bras.

For instance, I have massive nerve damage from my neck down AND diabetic nerve pain on top of that. I haven't been able to wear a bra since about 2007. The pressure on the tops of my shoulders will reduce me to tears. Even those really soft sport bras bring more pain than it's worth. I don't have big tatas to start with, but if they ever hang out from my t-shirts, I guess I'll have to wrap 'em up!!

Either way, I wear looser t-shirts to try and hide the fact. Total failure in the Winter, but hey, I can't control Mother Nature. [;)]

Personally, I think going braless is perfectly acceptable no matter your age or size. There are plenty of people who wear things I think they probably shouldn't, including guys in speedos, guys with crack or exposed beer bellies, worn out clothes, moms trying to dress younger than they are, or little girls in revealing swimwear. But, whatever - they are entitled to dress themselves as they see fit within the confines of the law & campground rules. It's not that hard to look away, and I won't be scarred by the memory.
