How horrible. I saw one burn once, too. The person was running a gas heater inside it (this was in Maine in the winter) and thankfully got out without being injured. Very, very scary for everyone.
Nice trailer. My suggestion is not to stay connect to the car, only if you are plug in the Shore Power. The reason is the battery charge in the trailer should charge both the trailer and car.
To verify measure the car battery float voltage should be about 13.2 vdc, Bulk charge about 14.4 vdc. Also I have added Solar Panel to every trailer I have own (7). The battery will last longer and stay charge, make sure you don't leave any electronic on. Amazon has a 200w 12vdc solar paned and a 12 vdc solar panel regulator. My battery last between 10 - 15 years. The kill of battery is depth discharge volt Inverter stop work at about 10.5 vdc to prevent draw dower to much. The more solar panels the better.

Thank you! I'll check out the solar products. This Aliner has an interface for solar, but I was told it only works with the interface brand -- kind of like Apple products.
This whole thread has shown me I need to learn about batteries and voltage.

Hope you have AAA, you will wake up with a dead. Car battery. It takes no more effort to pull the plug than it does to take the keys out of the ignition.
I would recommend no less than a 200 w 12 vdc. Check to see if there is a 12 vdc regulate built in to your trailer.

I know how that feels! It's scary in a way if you've never had a camper, us either, we're pretty new to this too, sometimes just reading things people talk about on here and a Facebook aliner group I'm in, just give the heebie geebies!

This. I will add, you can also leave it hooked to the TV if youre not on Shore Power for many many days. It all depends on what you're using in the camper. I left my camper battery hooked up once while I wasn't camping and it lasted for over a month before the propane alarm ran the battery down on the camper.
Also, my TV has a relay that turns the 12v+ off when the ignition is turned off. So I could leave it hooked up indefinitely.

Although I think we probably unplugged the seven pin, I've camped on the hitch once, on the first stop of a multi-stop camping trip, with rain forecast for the early morning when we wanted to get back on the road. I don't think we used the stabilizers because the TV provided plenty of stability. Otherwise, our routine is to chock the trailer wheels and always unhook everything at the campsite and camp on the stabilizers and the tongue jack.
Thats probably a bad idea, because you may not be level. That can cause undo problems on the bed frames, slides and such. When stopping for one night, I still level the camper with the toung jack and un hitch. Then I just lower it down in the am. If I am mostly level I leave the hitch conected and level a little with the jack. How did you get the front bed slide out without un hitching?

No front bunk: A-frame camper. We had a level, concrete site, and the camper was level on the hitch. Did it once only, to ensure we did not need to get soaked with rain at day break to get back on the hitch. Under these unique and special circumstances, it was a great idea. Since then, we've camped 68 nights without repeating the practice.
we always try to camp on the hitch when spending an overnight stop en-route. We can fore-aft level our inside cooktop independently from the camper.

Took longer to ask than to unplug 20 times. Just unplug it.
I leave it plugged in when I stop for food and fuel, even if I'm running the 3-way fridge on 12v. But if I'm stopped for more than 45 minutes, I unplug it. It's easier to deal with a dead RV battery than a dead tow vehicle, so why risk it?
If your 7-way is hard to work with, you may investigate why; there's conductive grease you can put on to help making it easier to attach and remove, and to keep the terminals from corroding. It's called diaelectric grease. I've put some on my 7-way. It makes connecting and removal easier. But keep the terminals out of the sand or you'll have a gritty mess.
I keep a pair of cheap harbor freight gloves easily accessible when towing so that I can deal with the coupler and connectors without getting my hands filthy.
