Stone Mountain State Park

We recently stayed at Stone Mountain State Park NC and really enjoyed it.
Only one loop (Loop B) has W/E hookup and there is a dump station in the park. The sites are very large but most of them do not provide much shade.
We found the other campers to be quiet and respectful and that might be due to the constant patrol of the park ranger.
We would definitely stay there again.

I've never camped there but I have visited the mounument on a drive back up from Fla. Great place and a beautiful drive.

We camped there in July of '07, when we had a popup, and DS was just 6 weeks old. We also stayed on "B" loop, site 47, 48, 49, somewhere along in there. Huge sites! But very open.

Really enjoyed the deer, hiking, etc.

I have been talking about Stone Mt. SP for a couple years but haven't made it there yet. While at the Wilkesboro rally in October, we have decided to make a day trip (just 24 miles away) and check it out. All the videos look fantastic.

Be sure to walk in to the old homestead and go back in time to a life 150+ years ago. It is a short hike from the parking lot. And you get a great view of Stone Mountain from there.

Hey Wild-Life, if Stone Mtn is full which it often is... Cedar Rock Family Campground in Traphill is on the back side of the state park. It is a small private campground with like 14 sites with water/electric and all the site are stream side. The gentleman and his wife who own it are super nice and very welcoming always! We prefer to stay there, only down side is the bathroom is up a very large hill! See you at the Sewer! Morgan

When I stay there I usually go fishing in the streams nearby.Since I live in NC I have a Lifetime license.
