New Mexico, Mid April, not sure yet? still have to do a shakedown. Either boondock or make a few boondocks and try and make a long drive up north to see friends.
Just wanted to mention heat retention is critical in a popup if you want to camp in the cold. Check out the cold weather section. In short put reflectix in the windows. I used closed cell foam (floor tiles) under The mattress this help keeps the cold from seeping through the mattress. I was able to get by with an electric catalytic space heater. My first trip was in January! I live in Mississippi and took my pup to Wall Doxey State Park to test out the frig and try to get the heater going. I was unsuccessful on both and it was in the low thirties during the night and forties during the day. My heater that i brought with me was not adequate for the cold weather, but we (my grandchildren) survived. I am going to Tishamingo State Park this weekend to hike and try the frig and heater again! Temps are to be in the 30's and 40's again. Definately will bring a different heater. Wish me luck!!
On our trip in January, the lows were in the 30s and highs in the upper 40s to mid 50s. I used 2 small ceramic space heaters, except on the day the campground was without electricity for 13 hours when we used the furnace, and we stayed as warm as we wanted. In addition to what @jmkay1 mentioned about reflectix (which I don't have) and foam floor tiles on the bunks (which I don't have) I used these foam floor mats from Harbor Freight cut to fit on the floor. They seem to make a big difference in floor temps. My first trip was in January! I live in Mississippi and took my pup to Wall Doxey State Park to test out the frig and try to get the heater going. Heading out tomorrow for a couple of nights at Tomoka State Park near Ormond Beach, FL. It's a two-hour drive from home base, and the weather is supposed to be 70's during the day, 50 - 60 at night. Hoping to do some hiking at nearby Bulow Creek State Park, plus a walk or two on the beach. It will be me, one of my two dogs (the other is a senior who will stay home with DH), and a foster dog who should be named "Limpet." It will be cozy.Oregon - May - probably rain, hopefully high 50s to low 60s
I'd love to see how it is in other States/Countries. Over to you all....
That sounds perfect. Looking forward to my trip tomorrow, but Florida in February? I think it will be "people-y."Texas, in two weeks. Boondocking on the ranch where we buy beef. Noone around, just us, Furbaby, and dark sky's inky darkness, dotted with beautiful stars. 5 days, weather should be 60's during the day, and 40's at night. Living life, and loving our camp. See you on the trail.
Any good spots you'd recommend ?Pennsylvania - March/April - 56 Average High and 36 Average Low for the weekend.
Will still have the camper Winterized until the end of April.
